Out of Chaos

Comes the crafting.
After what seems like forever I finally have some order in my craft room once more and it shows. Since I finished putting things into the right places I have been feeling incredibly inspired and have been crafting away like crazy.

So without further ado here is my photo for this weeks WOYWW
And the first glimpse of my new improved workspace (thanks Dad!)
On there are a lot of things that will be familiar if you've been here before. My regular desk buddies as it were. And there are a few things hinting at my renewed creativity. The remains of my June counterfeit kit are there in the process of being turned into a scrapbook page, there is a bag of cards I made at craft club yesterday, a bargain box of A4 paper I picked up at the same time and a couple of cards waiting to be sent.

This card went last week but I still wanted to share it
It was for my 60 years young Aunt and I just had to use that Wild Rose Studio stamp. I also used Papermania's new birthday range.

This one uses the same range and is still on my desk as it isn't our friends son's first birthday until tomorrow

I'm loving how both of these cards turned out.

I've also been scrapping but sharing my new LOs will have to wait for another day because the battery on my camera is dying.

Happy Crafting

I am still in a period of uncreativity but I am hoping that it is on its way out. I did nothing of a creative nature after posting my desk last week unless you count staining the garden bench but having to half clear out my craft room did nothing to inspire me. In fact I think that the definite state of upheaval in my craft room has been having a bad effect on me. That is changing in so much as yesterday my dearest dad came and fitted the worktop that is to be my new work area and since I have been working busily to get everything where it needs to go.





I am however feeling inspired today and might have to have a little play with a new purchase. After craft club this morning I went over to a local garden centre hoping to find a jewellery kit suitable for the neice's birthday. I didn't find what I was after although I did buy something towards her gift and a future gift for himself which has been hidden away in a spare room drawer (a note to myself should I not be able to find it later in the year).





This was what I bought for me


Cardstock from the Tim Holtz and Ranger Distress Collection by Coredinations. Now I love coredinations cardstock so just had to pick out some of my favourite Distress colours to play with, they are from the bottom: Dusty Concord, Spiced Marmalade, Broken China, Victorian Velvet and Tumbled Glass. Time to play I think!

Where's My Work Desk Wednesday?

It really should be where's my desk around here rather than what's on it! LOL
Yes you've guessed it's moved again and hopefully by the end of the week the old caravan table that has been my principal work desk for some time now will be once more relegated to the garage. It's been moved because the furniture that needed to go to make way for the new work area went at the weekend. This means that at the present there is far more on my desk and less in the way of actual working space.
The plan is to sort my promarkers (in the stripy lunch tin) into the small set of plastic drawers and have a go with what is left of my June counterfeit kit. I haven't been very creative in the last week partly because of the continued presence next door but one of some of the noisiest builders going and partly because I am in the midst of a series sort and clean of the house. Of course now that loads of my stash has been stuffed into boxes so it can be moved out of here to make way for the work being done I'm definitely suffering yet another inspirational block.
I intend to do something creative today though come what may!

A Lack of Inspiration

This is my desk this morning
Yes it is pretty much clear. The reason being as the title of the post suggests a lack of inspiration. I want to do something creative but I don't know what.
There are plenty of reasons why inspiration is not currently forthcoming. I have a man outside making a lot of noise cleaning the drive and patio, builders next door but one making almost as much noise and a spare room that desperately needs sorting. I have also been feeling rough this last week or so, my body seems to be finally getting used to my diabetes medication but my hayfever has decided that it will set off my old sinus problems.

Hopefully next week there will be more to see on my desk but check out Julia's blog for more desks this week.

More Counterfeiting!

I finished the fabric flowers from last week at the weekend.
I did all the stitching by hand and it took ages. I do like how they turned out though.
So much so that on sunday when heavy rain kept me indoors all day I got to using my counterfeit kit and one of my flowers.

I just had to scrap this photo of Dee-Dee ready for one of the games at last year's SVL Rally. We needed a window so the doortop got put back on, just the doortop mind, roof and windscreen stayed out of the way.

Oh and yes I am away that in the photo the 'c' is missing from windscreen, the stickers have been carefully removed and the missing letter added, I just couldn't be bothered with photographing it again!

I used my counterfeit kit various alpha stickers and some bits of ribbon I had hanging around.

I also completed this LO

It's another of my self-portraits and as the title says it's a just because LO. A little different from my usual pages but I like it.

And I've still got loads of my kit left to play with.

A Canny WOYWW

It keeps raining here today and having got caught out in two downpours already I think my mind is made up to spend the rest of the day in my crafting kingdom. I had to go out this morning because I wanted supplies to try something I saw over on the counterfeit kit blog and our local town's over abundance of charity shops once more came to my rescue. I wanted fabric to have a go at making flowers and for a little over £3 I managed to pick up 4 items of baby/toddler clothing to cut up and use.
I have had to improvise a bit because it really needs that iron on stiffening stuff on the back of the fabric before you diecut it to help it hold it's shape. Now I know I had some at one point but what happened to it I have no idea and seeing as it came from our local market that is not open on wednesdays I have had to make do with gluing the fabric to thick paper (old scrapbook album inserts to be precise).
Anyhow that is why the principal focus of my oddly angled desk shot this week is my beloved cuttlebug and Tim Holtz's tattered florals die.
Also in view for those of you who just have to know are a couple of new stamps that I mounted straight away (unusual behaviour for me). They are Lili of the Valley images, not my usual style but the bear in a mini in prticular shouted out to me. Aside from that there is my usual selection of desk oddments and a glimpse of the shelves that I am currently working in front of.

So last week I mentioned something on my desk that caught a lot of your attentions. I am refering to the device to turn a can into a bottle, more rightly called (in the case of mine) a canny capp.
This is what one looks like
And this is how it turns an ordinary drinks can into a bottle.

Basically it pushes onto the top of the can meaning that if you can't drink all the contents in one go they don't go flat, or attract unwanted bug attention, or within reason splash everywhere.

Admittedly it isn't perfect and if you knock the can over it will most likely pop off (amazing amounts of pressure can build up in there) and if you are a little sipper there is the possiblity of a little seepage around the edge. But it is handy and I really like them.

Finally I would like to apologise to all the WOYWWers whose blogs I have visited over the past couple of weeks and not commented on, Blogger has been such a pain that I've almost gave up trying to comment. I'm still really grateful to all of you for sharing though.

My First Attempt at Counterfeiting

Pretty much from the beginning I have been aware of what has been going on over here. And I like the idea of counterfeiting a kit out of goodies I already own but I've not been able to pull anything together at the right time of the month. Instead I've followed the blog and taken note of the many amazing links and told myself that one day I'll join in.

Well today is that day. I have shopped long and hard in my stash and created a little kit based on the kit held up for inspiration. I took the vintagey feel and ran with it in a way that I will hopefully be able to use.
I've included papers by Sassafrass, Lilybee, Pink Paislee and Dream Street. Bazzill, Papermania and Core-dinations cardstock. Rub on alphas and butterfly and a selection of embellishments chosen from the old stash mountain inculding a couple of vintage bus tickets.

Time to start creating!
