Ending the month on a high note

It has been a miserable wet day here but I don't mind a bit because my missing mojo seems to have decided to return :)

Jane and I set ourselves a challenge using a pencil lines sketch and before I knew I had the LO pictured here. It helped that I had my gorgeous August kit from Sarah's Cards ready to use but I found the photograph in my selection of ready printed shots and knew I wanted to use it. Although I had to cut it in half to work with the sketch. The journalling around the edge explains how even in winter Shropshire is still lush and green.

Today's other photo is of my christmas cards. I spent several evenings last week preparing bits and then yesterday afternoon I sat in front of the TV and put together over forty. I've still got my more special cards to make but I am really pleased that the bulk of them are out of the way - just got to write on them now LOL

Whoops

I'm not doing very well at this entire blogging thing, I keep forgetting to update it. Not that there has been a massive amount to up date it with because I am still feeling really quite rough. The doctor says it is just me getting over my cold but since I had the cold at the start of July I would really like to be feeling better by now!

Also I think my mojo is on a serious go slow at the moment. It hasn't vanished because ideas are still emerging but doing anything with them is difficult. The only time I seem to get any crafting done is at my crops and even then it takes effort to make myself complete anything. Basically I am just going through one of my slow patches and really shouldn't stress it.

Think that I am also suffering from Land Rover overload. I want other things to photograph! Hopefully my up coming Land Rover free holiday will help. :)

Perhaps in the mean time I should start making christmas cards or something. That might be just what I need to have me running back to my scrapbook!

Freaked Out Friday

Not having the best day today.

Got insulted in the supermarket carpark by a man who should honestly look in the mirror before he calls anyone anything! I called him a few choice things in return, some of them in English LOL, and could quite happily have slapped him. I figure he is just one of those people who should learn to engage their brain before they open their mouth. You hear so often about people being physically attacked out of the blue that it really isn't a good idea.

Since his comments included an attack on my size, on a day when I was feeling pleased with myself for the weight I have lost recently, it made me wonder why it is that it is rarely thin people who call someone fat. I am refering mainly to strangers since apart from the creature today who was himself large enough to be classed as obese I was once refered to as a fat cow by a woman I didn't know but who was almost twice the size of me. It makes me think that perhaps they are actually venting their feelings about themselves, or if in fact they merely kid themselves that they don't have a problem and either never see what their reflection is telling them or have one of those magic mirrors that make everyone look like a size zero.

I know I have weight issues but I don't need reminding every five minutes and not by people I don't know. I certainly wouldn't dream of throwing that kind of a comment at anyone. In fact I'm not sure that I even think of people as fat or skinny. I might think that someone needs to look in the mirror before they go out in a morning but that could just as easily be a badly dressed petite person as someone overweight. We are all human beings and all have feelings after all.

On a slightly lighter note today's picture is of a couple of thank you gifts I have made for two of the children I was crafting with the other weekend. I should be seeing them on Sunday so this evening I have decorated a couple of cardboard treasure boxes and made them a key charm each including name charms which are my first go with shrink plastic.

So much to share

It's been a while since I posted for a number of reasons, mainly because I've either felt really rough or been really busy or both!

However I am hopefully now going to share some of the things that have happened and been created in the time I have been away.

The biggest thing that has happened was the SVL first national rally. This Land Rover club was started on August 1st last year so we celebrated it's first birthday in style - Fancy dress style! The photo with which I am gracing this entry is of me and my wonderful other half getting into the party spirit. I was attemping to be an icon from my childhood, the inept fairy Mavis Cruet from the children's cartoon Willo the wisp. He was on his holidays Hawaiian style! It was a definite indication of the nature of the club that so many members turned up and dressed up.

I spent much of that weekend running childrens craft activities. It never ceases to amaze me how some paper and a gluestick will keep a child occupied for hours. Even more so that beads hold such a fascination. Some gorgeous jewellery was made by some of the kids and I wish I'd got photos of it.

My own craft efforts have been somewhat limited but I do have a few things that I will share with you over the next few entries, some gorgeous ATCs, a couple of LOs I am particularly pleased with and if I ever get them finished the three part finished cards that are my project for today. I might even share some of my own jewellery creations, you never know ;)
