Crafting with The Bunch

So yesterday was Tuesday which meant another morning spent at club at Crafty Bunch. But yesterday was not just any Tuesday because I kind of took over. Now I had the lovely Sue's permission but I gave the ladies something to work with namely this sketch.

Excuse how it looks but it was literally just something that I jotted down.

 

I was good though because I also offered them some inspiration using the same collection that we would be using in club, Basic Grey's Knee Highs collection.
My first LO stuck to the sketch.

 I made my own embellishment and just sprinkled a few sequins for something a little more. The photos are of my niece with a replica cow that you can have a go at milking at a local museum.

I then did another page where I used the sketch in another way, I turned it around and altered a few things.

 I wanted to add a lot of journaling with this photo of a younger me and that influence my design a lot. The flower is an American Crafts sticker and through out I used various Basic Grey alpha stickers.

Finally I made some cards with my scraps (there was a third but I used that!) including one that again used the sketch as its starting point.

I did mean to take my camera with me but forgot it - whoops! however here is what I came up with during the session again using the sketch. This isn't quite finished yet I still need to add something although I'm not sure what.

This photo is me aged 3 & 3/4 on Christmas day at the annual family tea and as was pointed out my mom (just visible in the bottom right corner) does look like me.

I think that everyone enjoyed themselves although they had not worked with a sketch before and they all left with a LO that was if not exactly finished then almost there (when everyone got their own stuff - there is a story in that too!)

A Steampunk Spells Compendium

This week craft club at Crafty Bunch was Halloween themed and we got papers from Graphic 45's Steampunk Spells collection to use. I started off by making a LO at club.

Having advance knowledge of what we would be working with I had prepared the die cuts in readiness and selected some suitably spooky photos (I am the vampire on the right!) The title is the name of the event; an annual occurrence at the local living history museum. When the photos were taken (back in 2000, I forgot to check and add the date until after I'd taken the pic) my friend (pictured on the left) worked there so myself and another friend (not pictured) took the opportunity to dress up and go along. I remember my make up took me ages that evening and my family couldn't believe what I had done to myself. I also remember it was a wet night and when I got home I had to take my costume off just inside the door because the bottom of my long skirts were soaked and muddy!

Anyhow having made the page I wanted to use the rest of my paper (I actually purchased another different sheet to stretch them a little further) and I made three cards; two for Halloween and the third for my brother's birthday (it's ok he doesn't read my blog!)

 I kept them pretty simple because the papers are very detailed and just added a few highlights; an additional balloon on the first card, glossy accents on the spider web of the other Halloween design and an embossed sentiment on the birthday card. I had to use perfect pearls on the sentiment because I embossed it in gold and it was far too bright!

My final project with these papers is something different for me because I don't often make what I call dust gathering items. However I loved this image and had to do something I could keep.

It is a hanging made on a chipboard base. I added gears and a raven that never made it onto my scrapbook page and watch and bat images that I cut out of one of the papers. I used clear embossing powder on the watch and then glossy accents on the bat (it was a later addition). I also used glossy accents to pick out the gold parts of the image and add a little texture. Finally I added ribbon to hang it with and filled the centres of the gears with some distress stickles. It is now taking pride of place on my inspiration pin board in my craft room.

After my last post I asked my peeps for advice. They came through and I made a few additions to the LO and like how it turned out.

 The journaling is still missing in the photo but I have no intention of sharing that with the world. It has taken me a while to get back to you because I was waiting for stickles to dry. I wanted to add some more of the turquoise colour but didn't have anything suitable with the paper so I added some card candi and stickled it to match the glittery thicker numbers.

I also have this to share.

This was done last week at my craft club and features the Craftwork Cards Tea Dance collection. It features one of the outside toilets at my local living history museum and when I saw that it was covered in roses in the summer I could not resist doing a page referring to roses around the door.

Work In Progress

I'm not quite finished with this LO but aside from the mass of journaling I have to add (the reason for using the large block on the right) I'm not sure what it is lacking eventhough I know something is missing. Any ideas from out there in blogger land?
