I Just Need To Vent

I've not blogged for quite a while now simply because the last few weeks have been difficult to say the least. At the end of January my grandmother passed away and effected me quite strongly. My family tree research suddenly became my focus again. In the same week as her funeral we had another family funeral (all be it a more distant relative) and I don't think that under those circumstances I could have done anything else other than revert into myself. Then as if I needed anything else I was got by one of those wonderful bugs that are doing the rounds. It started as a heavy cold, or so I thought, but by last friday had gotten seriously out of hand, I was coughing and sneezing and generally in great pain with my throat, sinuses and ears.
Thankfully I was able to see a doctor the same day who diagnosed tonsilitis and put me on a ten day course of antibiotics. Now since I reached adulthood I have had, including this one, four courses of antibiotics and every time I have to take them I am thankful that I have access to such medication.

I am at last improving although I am currently without much in the way of hearing in my left ear due to the continued congestion and pressure. I am at best irritable but I am also woman which means that without me the world or at least the house grinds to a halt so this morning I ventured out to the local supermarket. Now it is half term this week so out of consideration for my poor ears I went early in the hope of avoiding the high pitched wails of children who didn't really want to be there instead I found something far worse, the ignorant elderly. I mean when did they become so rude? I was physically pushed aside, had trollies jabbed into me, been glared and tutted at and not once did I hear a single excuse me or a thank you when someone was let past. It was quite honestly frightening and made me wish for the lunch time crowd of college age youths. I really wanted to turn around to some of those people and ask them if that was the way they had been brought up to act and more to the point how they could expect, indeed demand, respect from the younger generations when they act in such a rude way. I think I know the response I would have got and isn't it sad that our society is now like this.

Am so sorry to hear of your loss Sarah, it's terribly hard and makes you low which makes you very vulnerable to bugs and such. Poor you - am very glad to hear that you're slightly on the mend..but really it does take time. I have to agree in part - a number o ftimes my 17year old has moaned about people who push or tut at her back rather than simply ask 'excuse me'. It doesn't take much and boy, when you feel as bad as you do, it really is unbearable.
