I've been rather busy in the last week and have completed several LOs, it is amazing just how tidying my craft room and sorting through my stash has managed to inspire me to get creative. I often feel that scrapbooking is the poor relation with regards to papercraft in this country. Cardmaking is acceptable because you are producing something useful, justifying both the cost of materials used and the time taken. Altered art and art journalling are equally acceptable because they proclaim that they are art and art needs no justification. But scrapbooking? Well that's just making pretty photo albums isn't it? Waste of time and money. Bet if you scrap yourself you've heard comments like those before and you've probably noticed that making LOs has gone out of fashion, everyone is talking about mini books and taking it off the page well I don't want to. I want to continue filling albums with pages that mean something to me even if no one else gets it. Ok so I will make cards and ATCs because they are a great way of using up my leftovers but I am still a scrapbooker and proud of it.
Anyway no I've gotten that off my chest here are some more of my recent LOs

This one actually folds out to reveal more photos and journalling about our day out.
A very neutral colour scheme here for a photo of a local stately home

Believe it or not but all the papers used on this LO came out of my scraps box! I also used embellishments that I'd forgotten I owned.
This is another LO made mostly from the contents of my scraps box.

I chose red, green and white to echo the principal colors in the photo of the Captain Webb Memorial (he was the first man to swim the English Channel and born in the place I grew up). The title is actually engraved on one side of the memorial (he died trying to swim Niagara Falls) it was also originally multi-fuctional with a street light on the top and drinking fountains on either side. It's one of those things that as been on the edge of my life for so long that I just had to record it

Scrapbooking still rocks; all those other things might serve as useful distractions from time to time to help foster creativity - but there is still nothing that compares with a great layout. I like the ones you've done on places close to home. I need to document more of that myself.
I love my scrapbooking, it is so much more than a pretty photo album.....you are recording the stories etc that go with it. My boys love it when I get the books out to have a look through again :) You carry on scrapping - it is soooo worthwhile, and you get to keep it (cards you have to give away usually). Also going to crops I also get some me time :) :) By the way your layouts are great :) looking forward to seeing more
Love seeing LO's made from only scraps!
Lovely layouts Sarah and well done for all of your achievements in the past week. Scrapbooking will always be my favourite craft. It is my life all over again and I get to keep my work. My family will love them even more when I am 'gone'! Cards are great to make but I have to give them away! TFS. ~Glen~
wow i love that last one especially...the colour combo is divine! :0)
Really lovely Lo Sarah. I love scrapbooking, I just wish I had more time to make all of the things I want to

Great LO's Sarah and I certainly think that scrapbooking is still in vogue (although I would say that wouldn't I hehehe)
