The Middle of Nowhere

August Bank Holiday for us means a week away from civilisation setting up and helping to run the annual Shropshire Off Road Club Ratlinghope event. There might be no phone, internet or tv but it is a beautiful part of the country and only about 30 miles from home.

This is a view down the valley we were staying in. Those cables are alongside the road the only sign that the modern world has been here.

A lot of time was spent alongside streams. Basically they were driving a course that went in and out of them. I stood on the bank with my camera.

 The location is in the South Shropshire Hills so there are lots of hills in every direction.

This was pretty much the view from our campsite although there is a road between the two fields so I took it from the other side.

And this is what we were there for off road trialling. This vehicle belongs to Himself but because he was running the event he leant it to a friend on the proviso that the son of some other friends could navigate (we take this young man with us every year and next year if he passes his driving test he will be able to compete himself).
